Welcome!

Welcome!

This website is devoted to high-power rocketry and related pursuits.  For the purposes of this website, high-power rocketry is defined as in NFPA 1127, Code for High Power Rocketry.  A high-power rocket is:

3.3.15.1  A rocket vehicle that (1) is propelled by one or more high  power rocket motors; or (2) is propelled by a combination of model rocket motors having an  installed total impulse of more than 320 Nsec (71.9 lbsec); or (3) is propelled by a  combination of model rocket motors having more than a total of 125 g (4.4 oz) of propellant  weight; or (4) weighs more than 1500 g (53 oz) with motor(s) installed.

This first major project documented by this site will be my Tripoli Level 3 Certification rocket.  This certification is summarized by the Tripoli Rocketry Association as:

High Power Level 3  The Level 3 certification is open to all senior members who hold a current Level 2 certification, and allows members to fly High Power Rockets with a total installed impulse of greater than 5120 newton-seconds.  The candidate needs build, fly and recover successfully a rocket using a certified HPR motor in the M-O impulse range.

I will be detailing out the project’s design goals, documenting the design and analysis process and showing the build process of this rocket on this website.  This will be to aid in the documentation required for the the Tripoli Level 3 Certification.
